Update - suing your (idiot) contractor.

To review: I gave this guy $500 to go buy two doors at The Home Depot so that he could replace the ones on my basement. After he was done with the job he would have been paid for his effort. Instead he never comes back and doesn't return any of my phone calls. After a couple of months I fill out the paper work in small claims court to tell it to the judge.

So 4 days before we are suppose to appear in court, 5 months after filing the paperwork for the lawsuit, this guy leaves me a voice mail. "I want to finish all of this ... I don't want you to think that I am a thief ... I know that you probably don't care ... my girlfriends mother died, than my girlfriend got cancer ... can I send you a bank check?"

Now why would I think that you were a thief? Maybe because you took $500 from me and would never return my phone calls? Maybe because I had to take you to small claims court to get your attention? I am still out the $20 fee for filing the paperwork. Oh, and how about interest on that $500? I am out that also. Idiot.

Why do you need my permission to send me a check? You wait over 6 months than ask me if you can send a check? Idiot.

The question isn't whether I care about your girlfriend's mother passing away, or your girlfriend getter cancer (but you are correct - I DON'T CARE!) the question is WHAT THE HELL does this have to do with the fact that you couldn't give me back my $500? Idiot.

Guess I didn't finish the story. So thanks for asking.
Yes, the check arrived Saturday, so we didn't have to show up in court on that Monday morning.
